The way free agent acquisitions are awarded harkens back to the stone age in Fantasy Baseball. If we add tactics, transparency, and a reasonable time to make a bid, then we will make the playing field flat, increase daily participation which is the lifeblood of our League, and give weak teams hope. Why not use Fantraxís FAAB System?
Fantrax's Free Agent Bidding system uses a blind or open bidding system to award players to team owners based on who bid the most for them. These teams may be denied their claims if their remaining Free Agent Acquisition Budget (FAAB) is insufficient, or if the players bid on would violate certain roster restriction rules defined by your league's Commissioner. Team owners may bid on Free Agents at any time, and these are bids processed on specific days / time of the week defined by the Commissioner. Free Agents who are not awarded to teams when bids are processed will remain Free Agents.

If we set it up like this: Itís open with all nominations and bids shown. Each player nominated (who is eligible at the time) before midnight Pacific Coast Time will close his bidding at Midnight Pacific Coast Time the following night. it would be exciting and maintain interest. There would need to be bumps in the minimum over-bids that would make for some interesting strategy and keep someone from just bidding a single dollar more 15 seconds before the following midnight. Oh, especially allow zero dollar nominations, so no one will quit playing or resist playing because they think they have to save all their FAAB $$ for one big acquisition. If there is more than one zero winning bid on the same player, then the team with the worst current record wins the player. Naturally, on all overbids over a dollar or more as the existing high bid, then you cannot tie the bid.

We had an idea of making all acquisitions be either counted against your WW (everyone is on the WW) but that was voted down. Going to a FAAB system will change the fundamental aspect of transactions though, since whatever FAAB money is in the system provides for finite amount of moves, so that would be a big step.

I think moving everyone to the WW was the best idea, since the WW runs every night and processes at midnight, and if you churn and burn on a consistent basis, you atleast have the disadvantage of having a bad WW position, which may not mean a whole lot, but still a negative.

I'm personally in favor of weekly or twice weekly waivers. As well as limiting number of pickups anyway, therefore I completely support a bidding system.

I thought there's no reason for daily waivers now that the system is fixed that you can't pu drop and block. If that's the caseload we are trying to fix a problem that no longer exists.

daily waivers also fixes the minor league call up issues as well

Yeah, the daily ww would solve a good amount of the problems with player acquisitions and would atleast make WW priority somewhat interesting.

-Eliminates Timing Based call ups, because WW would run at I believe midnight or later (pretty sure it's customizable) so everyone has a chance to put in a bid.

Well the churning aspect has been fixed, but the main problem for acquisitions has been the timing issue, where more often than not, the best FA moves happen via injury or call up, where someone just happens to be online at the time and pick someone up, wheras given a fair shot, about 18 league members would've added that person as well.
